ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY
The YASHVANTRAO CHAVAN MAHARSHTRA OPEN  UNIVERSITY was established at Nasik, Maharashtra, by the Government of Maharshtra in July 1989 by the Act XX-(1989) of the Maharashtra State Legislature. It is the Fifth Open University in the Country (INDIA). The University is recognised by University Grant commission (UGC), New Delhi of the UGC Act 1956.under section12(B) for the purpose of Grants.

INTERNATIONAL RECOGNITION
The University is awarded for Excellence for Institutional achievement in Distance Education by the Commonwealth of Learning( COL), Canada(2002).

ENTRANCE EXAMINATION:

Admission to the MBA in hotel management and tourism  management programme will be granted strictly on the basis of performance at the Entrance Examination. Entrance Examination is generally held in the month of July every year.  Model question papers are provided in the prospectus issued by the YCMOU.   

LATERAL ENTRY:

Students having the required Entry Qualification and Diploma/Post-Graduate Diploma in Catering Science & Hotel Management or Equivalent of Recognised University/ Institute may seek direct admission to II/III year of Bachelor course under the Lateral Entry Scheme of the  University. Further details can be obtained from the Study Centre.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Scholarships for SC/ST students: Scholarships for SC/ST students will be granted as per directives of Government of Maharashtra. Attendance Requirements: Attendance is compulsory for all the Off-Campus Courses. Theory and Practical classes shall be conducted by the Off-Campus Study Centre as per the guide line of the YCMOU.

Industrial Training and Project work: Industrial Training and Project work shall be carried out by the students as per the directions issued by the YCMOU.

Scheme of Examination: Normally the University shall conduct theory and practical examination during May and December every year at all the major study centers located throughout the country. For annual pattern courses main examination will be conducted in May and their supplementary examinations in December.
